Slack

Connecting Slack lets you start PlatformSmith work from a channel and follow it there, without moving to the app for every step.

What it is for​

  • Trigger work from a channel — start a run from where the conversation about it is already happening.
  • Follow it in the thread — progress and results come back where you asked, so the record of why something was done sits next to the record of what happened.

What it does not change​

A Slack-triggered run is an ordinary run: same permissions, same credentials, same records.

Slack-triggered work needs a shared credential

Work started from Slack is not always attributable to a signed-in browser session, so it resolves a shared coding-agent credential rather than somebody's personal one. An organization whose only credential is personal can run interactive sessions and will find Slack triggers failing with no credential.

A Slack connection is bound to specific workspaces, so a channel can only reach the work it is supposed to reach. → Security and tenancy
